B-P Tech Summer Exploratory Program 2024
Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School is proud to present the Summer Exploratory Program.
Four weeks in July, beginning July 8th, students from Berkley, Bridgewater, Dighton, Freetown, Middleboro, Raynham, Rehoboth and Taunton entering grades 6, 7, and 8 have the chance to be part of a unique summer program that introduces them to an industry of their choice in an entertaining, educational way.
Classes are from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.
Transportation is the responsibility of the family.
With a variety of programs to choose from, there is something for everyone! Courses will run based on enrollment.
Cost is $160.00 per week. Multiple weeks in a variety of programs are possible.
Dress Code: During this program, students will be working in shop environments. Students are required to be dressed in long pants (preferably jeans) and closed-toe shoes.

Program Descriptions:
Four weeks in July, beginning July 8th
AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY (available weeks 1, 2, & 4 )
Are you curious how a car engine works? Well c’mon in this summer and we’ll explore the inner workings of the internal combustion engine. Also, learn how to change a tire as well as perform basic vehicle maintenance.
BAKING & MORE (available weeks 1, 2, 3, & 4)
Scratch baking from cookies and cupcakes to advanced techniques. Decorating contest at the end of the week, make your own fondant.
BIOTECHNOLOGY (available weeks 1, 2, & 3)
Put on your lab coat and learn the basics to work in a laboratory. Join us as we isolate DNA, put jellyfish genes into bacteria and watch them glow, and figure out if you have the genes of a morning bird or a night owl!
BLACKSMITHING (available weeks 2 & 3 )
Have you watched the show forged-in-fire, or been to a county fair and stopped to watch the blacksmith? Does forming metal with simple tools and fire interest you? Then you are ready to learn how to learn how to blacksmith. In this program, we are going to walk you through exactly what you need to start blacksmithing such as forge safety, fire safety, hammering technique, basic metal shaping, and making small projects to take home.
CAD (available weeks 3 & 4)
Come and join us in CAD where you will be using 3D Modeling software to design and 3D Print your own personalized keychains, cell phone holders, hand-held games, and race cars that you can take home.
COMMUNITY HEALTH (available weeks 2 & 3)
Are you interested in learning about the medical field? Would you know what to do in a medical emergency? Come learn basic first aid and life-saving skills while having fun! We will also explore different body systems and common diseases with hands-on activities.
COMPUTER & NETWORKING TECHNOLOGY - Programming (available week 3)
Learn to create your own App or Video Game using basic tools like code.org, Scratch, Gamemaker and Kodu. All tools are graphical and easy to use. No experience needed! By the end of the week you will be able to demo your app or game. These tools are free to use, so you can continue your developing journey long after camp week is over!
COMPUTER & NETWORKING TECHNOLOGY - PC & Networking (available week 4)
Join us for an exciting week at our summer camp, where campers will learn to build a computer from scratch and explore the basics of networking and cybersecurity. From assembling hardware components to understanding IP addressing and cybersecurity best practices, participants will gain hands-on experience and essential skills for the digital age. Don't miss this opportunity to dive into the world of technology!
COOKING CAMP (available weeks 1, 2, 3, & 4)
Explore the Culinary possibilities on the savory side. Create fresh-made pasta, grilled favorites, pizza, and salad. Finish the week in a “Chopped” style mystery ingredient competition!
COSMETOLOGY (available week 1)
Do you have a flair for hairstyling, a creative hand for nail art, or an eye for make-up application? Come learn and have some fun with us!
DENTAL ASSISTING (available weeks 1& 2)
Enter the dental operatory and work at the dental chair to get familiar with the instruments and techniques used by dental assistants. You will have the opportunity to take dental impressions, perform coronal polishing, apply dental sealants, provide fluoride treatments, create mouth guards and stone models, and much more during the week.
DESIGN & VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS (available week 4 )
Characters Pop! Come and experience the professional application Adobe Illustrator and the industry-standard Adobe Photoshop! Design colorful "pop" posters, and build collages of your favorite recognizable characters! And do so much more! All beginner artists are welcome!
ENGINEERING AND ROBOTICS (available week 3)
Have you ever wondered how things work? Looked at something and thought maybe I could make a better one? If you enjoy the act of being creative, solving problems and applying your ideas to projects, then engineering and robotics might be a good fit for you. Join us as we build and pilot robots, make objects fly and make useful items with 3D printers.
GRAPHIC DESIGN (available weeks 2 & 3)
Learn the different printing processes used to print a variety of products. Make a t-shirt, mouse pad, key chain, and work with vinyl graphics used for signs & vehicles.
HVAC (Week 1)
You may know that HVAC stands for Heating, Cooling, and Air Conditioning, but it's much more than just heating your home in the winter and keeping us cool during the summer! Have you found yourself laying in bed during the hot summer months just wishing there was a quick and easy way to cool yourself down? Or feeling chilly in the winter and wanting to warm up? Join us for a week as we find out exactly, what is heat and how you can make things cool. We will use some industry tools as we discover this knowledge. And you will see that the same science applies to making ice cream & pizza!
WELDING & METAL FABRICATION (available weeks 1, 2, 3, & 4 )
Welders create things that we see and use every day! Some examples would be planes, ships, cars, motorcycles, submarines, buildings, bridges and much more. Join us for an introduction to the world of welding and fabricating.
