    The Student Services Department is committed to providing a range of supportive services designed to maximize student learning while supporting the efforts of the entire Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School community. The department, comprised of guidance and special education staff, is dedicated to assisting students attain their full potential. Throughout their four years at Bristol-Plymouth, students receive support, encouragement and guidance as they develop a sense of identity, explore career pathways and enhance the personal skills needed to become self-sufficient, contributing members of the community.

    COMMUNITY and SCHOOL

    Founded in 1639 and incorporated in 1864, the City of Taunton is located in southeastern Massachusetts, forty miles southwest of Boston, and twenty miles northeast of Providence, RI.  The largest city in land area in the Commonwealth, Taunton is a growing industrial community of approximately 56,000 people.  Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School serves students from the towns of Berkley, Bridgewater, Dighton, Middleboro, Raynham and Rehoboth and the City of Taunton.

     

    September of 1972 marked the opening of Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School, with 472 students.  Over 1300 students are enrolled at Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical for 2021-2022 school year with a faculty of 117. With nineteen technical programs and a college preparatory academic course of study, Bristol-Plymouth is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

    *2021-2022 School Year-In lieu of AP LA III & AP LA IV, interested students will take a Colleg Access English course during the school day, allowing them the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit. These credits will be detailed on the student transcript.

     

    Students take four–84 minute blocks of academic courses every other week throughout the school year, receiving 2.5 credits/semester ~ 5.0 credits/year.  

    Reading, Environmental Science, junior and senior year Social Studies, Spanish, Math Concepts, Physical Education and Health courses are 42 minute periods every other week throughout a quarter, semester or the school year, receiving .50-1.25 credits/semester. 

    Students are required to pass all academic subjects each semester or participate in a credit recovery program.

    Class Rank is calculated using the GPA of weighted grades from Grade 9 to Grade 12.

     

    Academic Programs

    Honors and AP courses are available to students in grades 9 - 12.

    Special Education Services are available for students in all grades.

    Articulation Agreements and dual enrollment programs with local post-secondary institutions provide students with the opportunity to participate in college courses while in high school.

     

    Technical Programs

    Nineteen technical programs offer students a spectrum of areas from which to pursue a pathway commensurate with their skills and interests.  

    Graduates receive a certificate of occupational proficiency and many students accrue hours towards licensure in their profession.

     

    All technical programs report quarterly grades with a total of 20.0 credits awarded at the completion of the year indicating that the student has successfully mastered 500 hours, including theory, in that technical program.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

  • he Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School does not tolerate discrimination against students, parents, employees or the general public on the basis of sex. The Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School is also committed to maintaining a school environment free of harassment based on sex, including harassment based on gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy or pregnancy status.  The Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School’s policy of nondiscrimination extends to students, staff, the general public, and individuals with whom it does business; no person shall be excluded from or discriminated against in employment, admission to a public school of Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School or in obtaining the advantages, privileges, and courses of study of such public school on account of sex. 

    How to Report Sexual Harassment: Individuals are encouraged to report allegations of sexual harassment to the Title IX Coordinator(s) identified below or the Principal. Any report of sexual harassment, as defined under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, will be responded to promptly in accordance with the District’s Title IX Sexual Harassment Grievance Procedures, available at :Title IX Sexual Harassment Grievance Procedure.  Reports of discriminatory harassment not constituting sexual harassment as defined under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, will be initially addressed through the District’s Title IX Sexual Harassment Grievance Procedure and may, if dismissed under that procedure, be investigated  in accordance with the District’s Civil Rights Grievance Procedures, available at: Civil Rights Grievance Procedures

    Upon receipt of a report of sexual harassment, the Title IX Coordinator will: (1) promptly and confidentially contact the complainant to discuss the availability of supportive measures; (2) inform the complainant of the availability of supportive measures with or without the filing of a Title IX Formal Complaint; (3) consider the complainant’s wishes with respect to supportive measures; (4) if the school district does not provide the complainant with supportive measures, document the reasons why such response was reasonable; and (5) explain to the complainant the process for filing a Title IX Formal Complaint.  

    Inquiries about the application of Title IX may be directed to the District’s Title IX Coordinator and/or the Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights.
