Carpentry
Perhaps you love the smell of fresh cut wood, enjoy woodworking
projects, have a dream of building a house -- or all of the above.
In this program you will be introduced to the basic concepts of
carpentry and cabinetmaking, including house construction, millwork
and remodeling. You will learn to use hand and power tools, understand
architectural drawings and appreciate the impact of the computer
on modern design. You will participate in all facets of building,
from conceptual drawings to project completion.
Facilities
A spacious shop with a full range of tools and up-to-date equipment.
Eleventh grade students work off-site on school-sponsored projects
in area communities. Seniors get additional real-world experience
through the Cooperative Education Program, earning money while continuing
to hone their skills and make useful contacts for future employment.
Recipe for Success
Begin with an interest in construction and buildings, and add an
ability to work with your hands. Mix in visual perception ability
and good math skills for a great future.
