In this program, you can prepare to be a "Surgeon of Steel" -- a precision machinist who creates metal parts for a wide array of industries. You will learn to operate the latest types of computer controlled milling machines found in industry, and can look forward to a lucrative career.

Recipe for Success

Start with a student who has mechanical ability and dexterity and the capacity to visualize a manufactured project from a design. Add geometry and trigonometry courses, computer skills and safety consciousness to produce an effective machinist.

Career Highlights
Trained machinists are in demand. Companies often fund courses for entry level workers to upgrade skills, to keep pace with advances in technology. Machinist training provides an excellent basis for mechanical and manufacturing engineering programs. B-P graduates work for prestigious area companies, and also continue their education at Wentworth Institute, University of Massachusetts, Bridgewater State College and other schools.
